Whenever people ask if HDR and wide color gamut are worth it, I’m going to point them to last night’s Game of Thrones episode.
The episode was so dark that banding and a lack of shadows detail and dynamic range made it nearly impossible to see what was going on. Of course, even with HDR in a dark room, it would still be difficult to see all of the action, but that seemed to be the intent of the showrunners (probably to increase the sense of dread for the episode).
P.S. HBO, please release the rest of the seasons in UHD or (preferably) stream in 4K HDR.
